This Radius 119 is one of my go-to lanterns on quiet summer nights. It has a fiber wheel on the pricker control, a large loop in the handle, an obvious cracked collar and the tank has the following characteristics: Fuel gauge (1937 or later?) Radius LTD No 119 + multi langual authenticity engraving (1938 or later?) Older style fuel cap + pressure release screw (which was used up to 1934?)
Splendid lamp. The cracked collar gives it character, from the looks of the hood this lamp has been making light regularly for a good long time.
@John Indeed, definitely no shelf queen this one. It is a real work horse and gets enough burning hours.
These late 1930s 119s with the early 1930s filler caps are unusual. They do turn up now and then, so must have been a production run for some purpose. I have one myself and have seen a couple of others, so I don't know how uncommon they are, but they are at least unusual.
