I tried looking back through my previous posts to find out which ones I'd posted about but got completely confused. The long and short of it is, after the dust had settled I had one remaining 350 which was complete apart from the air tube which was missing. I wasn't hopeful I'd ever find one but you live in hope. Eventually Paul M turned up Trump's and found one among his collection of parts. By the way, this was a tank that had the ruined NRV that someone had tightened so much they'd stripped the threads forcing me to de-solder the pump time and replace it with a donor from an unusable one. Anyway, it's now fully re-assembled and it's working very well. I don't have a Veritas globe dobits got a 500cp Solar globe at the moment.
Guys... would any of the kind moderators be able to correct the garbled nonsense my phone's autocorrect left in it's wake? It looks like a 7yo with dyslexia wrote it rather than the 63yo with dyslexia who actually did!
I almost forgot... thank you @AussiePete for the handmade replacement pricker needle you supplied me with last year! The old girl wouldn't have worked without it! Thanks mate!
I think I did some parts swapping to get the maximum number of lanterns working... No matter, they're all up and running now! Also, it's easy to forget just how easy and quick these lanterns light themselves! I filled the pre-heater cup, lit it and started to type this post when... 20 seconds later the mantle starts glowing happily from the fuel in the vaporiser so I released the valve and off she went! Honestly these blooming 350's are incredible!
Excellent mate well done. She’s running well. Another Veritas resurrection. I agree, they do start so easily. Cheers Pete
You beat me to it Tony, wondered why Donald John would have been in to Tilleys but I bet his Mother would have been familiar with them.
My bl00dy phone insisted on capitalising the word trump! Of course, it did it the last second before I posted the message ...but, I now have a mental image of the former president polishing an enormous collection of lanterns!
Here it is starting... Because the 350 (and Superbs) have positive shut off valves they can be left pressurised. What you see here is the 350 being started from scratch with the valve closed and the tank pressurised. There will be an amount of paraffin/kero in the vaporiser so when you heat it, this will expand, vaporise and start burning.
Looking good Colin! I’ve got a Veritas project on the go, justcant recall what I did with the fount....
Great job on the fettle Colin, you have finished it to such a high standard that is looks like a new one.
