Hello everyone ,I hope you are keeping well .
My name is marten ,Although this is my posting I have been a member for a couple of years now, there has been so much info that I really haven't needed to ask questions as the answers were withing the different threads .
I've had lamps or lanterns (depending how correct you want to be) for over twenty five years but mostly used for fishing ,I didn't start collecting till about three years ago.
A few days ago I was very fortunate to see some lamps on FB market ,I contacted the seller and two days later he delivered them to my door ,I was doing my best to keep calm because inside I was dancing a merry jig.
In this group of lamps was a Tilley srd, from what I can see it has the original glass ,the vapouriser is clean and looks as if it's only been lit a few times ,the base of the reflector cone is a little buckled but it is very soft that I am able to reshape it with my fingers . The tank is in very shape but signs of the black gloss paint where it has been scrubbed off.

The SDR is a very nice score for your first post.

Do you have the burner spigot?

You should be able to get the SDR up and running without too much effort.

    Cheers

    Tony

I can see why you were dancing a merry jig inside yourself when you took possession of the SDR. That’s a great score, well done.
    Cheers

Welcome and we’ll done! That’s a proper score and reassuring to know your SDR didn’t end up being ‘upcycled’!

@Buggerlugs ,thanks not quite so top shelf at the moment it was delivered with very smelly fuel still in it so it's out in the shed getting a airing

@BigStevie , recycling and repurposing is little bit of a hate of mine ,although I have been guilty of the act I only use those that are beyond their working life. The only ones that I've found to be any good for up cylcle are xb models .

Oh no, that’s a shame. My wife had some concerns about the increased fire risk associated with this hobby, but appeased her with a fire extinguisher and a few smoke alarms! Perhaps you need to gift your landlord a lantern, once he’s hooked and has a growing collection of his own he’ll be much more understanding!

Yes I have a fire extinguisher as well because you just never know .
My landlord has said it's for the elf n safety of other residents ,as for appeasing them with a gifted lamp I'll hold back on that option for now ,however nothing in my contract to say that I can't use and keep petrol so my Coleman's have been having a good time :D
