Questions about Primus 1321 quickstarter

    Does anyone know if the 1081 quick starter will fit and work on the 1321? Mine is missing . Is it the same one ( no 6429)

    No they are not the same. The part number for the quick starter on the 1321 (and 1381) is 6022. The channels in the housing are different to allow for the different fuel to air ratio for alcohol. Having said that, I don't know if anyone ever changed the quick starter when converting a 1381 or 1321 to kerosene. Not something I have tried so can't comment.

    Thank you for your answer! Having finally gone through mine a bit more thoroughly, I now think I understand why the quick starter was missing. It was probably taken off when converted. Since the jet and needle is smaller on mine (6145 i think it said in the jet) and the brass restrictor in the air tube has been removed.

    Is this all that needs to be done in a convertion or am I missing something?

    Should I leave it converted or try to restore it to original? ( Is there any other pros/ cons to having it converted to kerosene) I really want the quick starter but then I need to decide witch one to get.

    Also, I noticed the gasket on the needle control nob-rod (!?) was the thread 6129. But there is also the grafite one, right? Dose it matter which one I use?

    Basically the only difference is the size of the jet (and needle) and the restrictor in the air intake. There are a few more differences, but they don't stop it working on kerosene. The cleaning rod was specially designed for alcohol so it could have the brass mesh fitted. This mesh does not affect the performance with kerosene, but could get filled with carbon and restrict flow.

    As to converting back to alcohol, that is entirely up to you. Arguments for could be that it was originally for alcohol. Arguments against could be that it is a part of the history of the lamp that it was converted to kerosene. It's probably a case of which fuel is easier to get.

    Packing for the shaft is not critical as long as it works. These days I usually use graphite.
