Hello. Have this 300x which I do not think works quite well. I've had it in a bucket of water and it's tight. Have cleaned it completely. The mantle I use is the same as I use in my Tilley lamps. Is it the wrong mantle and which can be recommended. Thanks in advance. Tom
Those mantles should work perfectly well on the Bialaddin too. If you are sure that the burner is clean with no blockages, then it is likely that the vaporiser is blocked up with carbon inside.
I agree with Phil, the vapouriser is so choked with carbon that even with good pressure in the tank, there's not enough pressure at the burner nozzle to make the mantle into a nice ball shape. You can try heat and quench to break-up the carbon and shake it out but that can take a long time. You could take the brass fitting out of the tube and use a screwdriver to get the carbon out. Sometimes the brass shears off but the vapouriser isn't working properly anyway so you haven't really lost much. Unfortunately I dropped the vapouriser tube when I took it out of the vice and most of the carbon went onto the floor.
Forgot to mention, leave the mantle alone. With a good working vapouriser, there's every chance that the mantle will take its correct shape.
@Henry Plews Thanks for reply Henry The Vaporizer that you have put a picture of in the vice, it is an original Bialaddin Vaporizer. The one sitting in my Bialaddin looks like Tilleys for confusion. The lamp is shining nicely and clearly now. Tom
