This will probably be the only event we will be doing this year, so many cancelled earlier in the year. Things started well, lamps packed, weather was okay, until about midday Wednesday when we had thunder, lightning and hail. By Friday afternoon the rally site resembled a tough mudder course, with tractors the only vehicles that could handle it. Despite all this, we managed a light up on Friday and Saturday night. Picked up an award for the best Rootes vehicle, kind of by default as it was the only Rootes vehicle in the show.. Spent all day today cleaning both cars…
Great lightup(s) Gary with great "props" - even tho it was wet/muddy and caused a lot of car cleaning I bet it was better than kicking about the house..
Good for you I love your van as well has it still got gas lamps?? That really is just a ploughed field now
@podbros yes we still have gas lamps in the caravan. Don’t use them much though as the mantles don’t last very long.
Same here, we were lucky enough to get in at Driffield but it's doubtful we'll get to do another. Like most of Britain, we've had our fair share of rain but fortunately the area around Driffield is free-draining chalk so we weren't struggling in the mud. Give them a coat of cheap hairspray before travelling. The lacquer will burn off when you next light them.
