Hi there. I have a Tilley FL6 and I’ve decided to change the bolts to brass, but this was easier said than done.
Would you have any idea where I could get these?
    Always grateful for any help
    Thanks
    Glen

It's either a BSW (Witworth) or a UNC. They are mostly interchangeable although the thread angle is slightly different - BSW is 55°, UNC is 60°

...oh... just seen that you found your answer!

Hi Colin LOL Really appreciate it though. Bolts ordered. but it makes a difference to the lamp. it makes it pop a little once you add the Brass. Its looks more like a show piece, instead of a big lump of black lamp LOL

Pleasure mate. Since I started messing around with lanterns I've bought myself a few old tap an die sets so I can chase threads that have been mistreated or make new parts if I have to. eBay is a great source if you shop around and I now have number of them including BSW, BSF, BA, UNF, Metric. Boy is this hobby fun!

Are there any UNF threads on Tilley/Vapaluxes ? I thought they were mainly found here on British made cars post 1940

Probably not @Fireexit1 but once you start collecting things.... well, you know how it goes!

    Edit*

If you have no other taps or dies, any collector of British made lanterns will need a 2BA tap and die at some point, I guarantee! Also, a box of 2BA dome headed slotted brass machine screws will come in very handy!

Tap & Die! Never thought of that!!! I've had to make up a few parts for things. A Carbide Bicycle lamp, the interior bit I nearly had to rebuild everything but it works and I'm chuffed ;)

There you go, you definitely need a few sets now! If you haunt eBay you'll find some lovely old sets in wooden cases if you wait patiently. I found 2x BA tap and die sets for very little money which cleaned up a treat. One even found it's way to Australia!

Three of my nicer old sets... BSW, BA and BSF. Cleaning up the presentation cases is satisfying too as is finding any missing sizes!
