I didn't see many wartime B's in the reference, so I thought I would post this most recent one. Notice the majority of steel pieces for wartime rationing. The fount and direction disk are also steel.
Looking good! This is the first wartime 22xB of which I see the ceramic burners photographed in more detail. Also the burner tubes look to be different compared to earlier (and later?) 22xB lanterns. Is it known during which period Coleman used these ceramic burners on dual mantle lanterns?
Thank you for the kind words everyone. @Brenneman the burner tubes for the ceramic caps are threaded further for use with the steel lock nuts that secure the ceramic caps. A couple other different things are the steel fount, the valve assembly, & eccentric housing are all specific to these wartime era B's.
Hi @Brenneman , the 220B ceramic burner caps and lock nuts did not appear in Coleman catalogs, the only known documentation to date are the lantern instructions included with the lanterns in the box. These specific 220B designated instruction examples found so far with this feature are dated only from starting 5/42 to 5/43. The only 220BX designated instructions found to date (3 examples) all dated 10/43 show the standard burner tubes and caps. 220 B continued production designated instructions from 7/44 also show standard caps and tubes. Some of the BX's are found with a rough-cast filler lid. Others have a conventional filler lid, but made of steel. Even though many ordinarily brass parts have had steel substituted, this rough lid is still brass, and even white plated. Here is my 3-3 220BX::
