No risk for that to happen. They will never set foot in the reference sections, and what happens in the of-topic foras doesn't really matter.
And any misplaced blowlamp post will soon be moved to the OT area.
Even if I happen to collect the odd blow lamp myself, I'm focused enough to keep them away from the main issue of this site, just as on CCS.

Christer, yes you're right, it can stand alone. Nice little thing but wish I could find the pendant for it.

    Thanks Jean.
Actually I found one in the reference gallery after I asked about the foot. Neil has one posted there.
You should post yours too! It's not necessary for the lamps to be absolutely complete there, so it doesn't matter that you miss the pendant.

Wow, Kenny! That's truly impressive. Looks like you have the entire attic stuffed with lamps!

Maurice! Fantastic polish on those plated Tilleys.
But chrome you say? Are they really plated with chromium? That's not too common on brass lamps, is it? They are usually nickel plated. I'm not that knowledgeable about Tilley, but atleast with the Guardsman I would have guessed speculum since it seems to have been "their thing".

Tilley don't seem to have used nickel. Most is what they called speculum but is actually a pretty hard metal closer to chrome than nickel. ::Neil::

Yes, that's why I wonder about the chrome. It's not so common on brass lamps. I would rather think that they all were speculum plated if they not are nickel.
That speculum plating looks very nice when the condition is in good order, but most of the old Guardsmen I've seen are quite pitted, and this plating also seems to be prone to flaking. But as said, when in good order it has a very nice and "deep" shine to it.

I think I'm right in saying Tilley used the word 'chrome' in a general sense to give an impression of the finish on those lamps, rather than being scientifically accurate.

I don't think the word 'speculum' would mean much to Joe Public, anyway - it's Latin for 'mirror'. If they'd ever heard of the word, I think they'd more likely confuse it with the medical instrument bearing the same name and used to examine, er, various parts of the anatomy. Certainly nowhere you'd want associated with your lamps and lanterns, particularly if you wanted to encourage sales...

OK. Sounds reasonable. They used chrome as a generic term for any white metal that shines as a mirror; chrome, nickel, polished SS etc. A bit inaccurate to me, but I guess it worked for most who read the brochures.

Maurice, which model is to the left of the Tilley TL10 and which globe do you have fitted to it? Lovely background view, you would be sad to leave that behind wouldn't you?

That is a Bialaddin T20 with the original globe. Same globe that was used on Bialaddin 310 lantern. ::Neil::

I was wondering about that - the image isn't clear so a little difficult to tell but I fancied it was possibly the later replacement from the 315.

Mind you, I'm on my work monitor so maybe that's it...

Unfortunately, between 9am and 5pm, Jean, with a 36 minute break for lunch...

But yes, a chrome T20 which is quite a rare beast. All T20s are uncommon given they came out at the time pressure lamp sales had dwindled to almost nothing, but the chrome versions are especially so.

Just a pity they didn't come with a chrome gallery, which might have improved their appearance some, although the tank is more conventional compared to the T10 one.

The T20 gallery is a bit strange-looking to my eye. Call me Mr. Cynical if you like, but I think W&B solved the problem of the enamel-loss on T10 galleries by just omitting the worst affected parts on the updated gallery - simple!

David, I'm sure you are right about the new design for the gallery. It is far better than the previous slotted or round holed top which are invariably pinged and rusty. I do suspect it was introduced before the T20 model though, I have seen quite a few T10s with the new style gallery fitted. More than would make you think it was just a wrong part fitted.

Hmm, that's interesting. I've never seen a T10 so fitted, and I'd always assumed the two lamps each came with their own style gallery.

But if you've seen a few T10s with the later gallery fitted, it seems reasonable to suppose they left the factory like that. It's not as if there would have been a load of the new style galleries available that customers could have retro-fitted to their T10s after the original gallery had succumbed to enamel loss...

    Hello David, very good!

The brass Vapalux lantern in the first photo was missing it's original handle, so I rigged it with a handle which I made from a broken Tilley PL53 handle and as that does the job I'm leaving it on, Jeff.

Simply beautiful collection Jean . I am new to Tilley collecting but already very keen and have restored some nice table lamps . I must admit , I do like the "girlie" ones as you call them ! I have found a sourse of lovely old transfers that look great on the plain Tilley shades . I did say to myself I would stop at 10 lamps but well .... You know don't you !! Maybe just another 10 . It is great to see other peoples lamps and to see how they present them . I like to keep before and after photos of the ones I have restored . Looking back , I can hardly believe how bad some of them looked . I have just bought a Tilley table lamp (Round based tank) that fits into a tripod stand . I am wondering if this could be original or something made up over the years . Anyone ever seen a tripod based lamp ??
    Best wishes to all .
    Noel .
