Two bail ends. Coleman 242B Canadian from 1936 with pointed ends and a 4 lb tension digging them into the burner assembly. Coleman 242B Australian from 1951 with square cut ends and little tension. To me it's a no brainer that the square cut ends are less destructive on the burner assembly than the pointed ones. Are the pointed ones just worn or original. I believe original. Just wondering why they might be sharpened/ rounded on the Canadian ones? Iain
I was thinking that the tapered ended ones of the Canadian example would help in locating the receiving hole in the burner manifold. A quicker fit. Cheers Pete
My three Canadian 242B of 1947,48,50 have the square cut bail ends with strong tension, but fiddly to put in. The pointed end on your early 242B for sure is better to handle, but needs a further production step than the later ones. Matthias
