    Hi all,
First let me say this forum has been very helpful. I knew almost nothing about pressure lamps before finding this site. Many thanks to everyone!

Long story short, I offered to buy my Grandpa's two hurricane lanterns and he suggested I buy his two 327's and Nulite 2M* as well. Needless to say, I couldn't turn them down!

For reference, the 327's are dated 1925 April and 1925 May, but the earlier one is in pretty sad shape. Both have been worked on before so I can't tell what is "correct".

    On to my questions:

    1) Is the valve supposed to be clocked 90 degrees from the filler? Knob on the left when looking at the filler? (I have seen some at 180 degrees and some 90 degrees to the right.)

    2) I assume the frame's cutout should be over the filler?

    3) When the ventilators are off the lantern, both ventilators are "loose" when I pick them up by the top cap, as if the mesh ring and interior disc are only partially/loosely attached to the top cap and lower ring. Is that right? The Nulite's ventilator is completely rigid by comparison.

    Thanks in advance!

*I already have the Nulite fettled and will post photos when I can

    Hi Tyler,
    Welcome aboard.
    1) The position depends only on the screwing.
    2) That's right !
    3) It is common on this model. You just have to hammer the top crimp.

@Tyler Lezotte I usually clock them 90 degrees (left or right of the filler) or 180 degrees from the filler. 180 degrees seems to be the most popular in the mid 20s from my many examples  also keep your valve centered in the collar.

A couple I did this past week

    Thank you, everyone!

Looking more at the two lanterns, I may just take the best parts from both and make one "shelf queen" and one "user". The older one looks like it took a dive off a high shelf at some point.
