Hello everyone! Just got me this rare little lantern, a HASAG 242, that I believe is prewar. It has prewar logos on the fount and some remains of the export decal as well, and the name HASAG imprinted in big letters with wavy lines under them, this makes me believe it was made in the immediate prewar years. It is a typical 200CP kerosene fueled lantern, like any Petromax, Optimus or Radius of 200CP. The main thing that differ is the design of the vent, and the way the vent is kept in place, as the nuts that holds the bail are spring-loaded, and you just need to pull them out to remove the vent. It is a beautiful and rare lantern that was sold new at the famous department store Stockmann in Helsinki Finland, as the soldered on label implies. The lantern is also a good runner, as I find most of these old German lanterns are. Thank you Petri for helping me get this one. Regards / Frederik
I recently found a similar lantern, just need a globe. My Optimus 200 globe is pretty close fit. @Tive What are the dimensions of your globe 89x106mm?
It appears to me like top quality metal work. I'd believe most pre-war Hasag items would likely be. Nice find.
