I came across this re chroming / replating material. I was wondering if somebody knows this or even has tried it out?
As all adverts it looks good but is it something for us to use on lamp parts?

Never heard of it. It looks too easy but, who knows. Might be worth trying if it not real expensive. :-s

I saw that process on some auto restoration show, and it looked easy there, too. I am dubious that it would stand up to any kind of heat though.

I'm not a chemist but that might be a variation of a so-called 'electroless chromium plating'.
Its a type of metal deposition without the use of an externally applied electric field.
    I might not be correct.

seen this a few years ago, seen like a good idea, but would take me bits to be done properly, not sure how long the above will last, no real info on it
