This is my butterfly lamp. I know it's all brass ,it dosnt have a rapid pre heater so i believe it to be a 350cp? The glass is not correct but it fits like a glove which is good as I bought it by mistake, not reading the description properly I thought it was the larger size. The only markings on it are butterfly on the tank and in the upper vapouriser. I know they were either made in china or the Philippines other than that I know very little about like a model number or even a manufactors date if there is one . Keep smiling marten
Thanks JEFF ,it is a tidy little lamp,i have a few of 350's, the petclones if we can call them that, but this is my only butterfly and I rather like the look of the frosted glass on this one
Very nice, especially if it is all brass. It looks to be the smaller 250cp model which I've not seen an example of before. All mine are the 350cp steel type.
Quite a lot of older Butterfly lanterns are of brass contruction.( Excluding custom-made ones). I have a couple of brass 350cp ones. The rest are steel. The 200/250cp ones are not as common.
@phaedrus42 thank you yes I have put a magnet all over it and which confirms it's not steel . @Andrew T ,thanks for the positive id on this lamp as I very nearly ordered 350cp parts However I did find a very faint 350 stamped into the jet ,possibly a replacement ? @ColinG thank you I am pleased with it ,a nice little addition to go with the other petclones @MYN The 200/250cp ones are not as common.[/QUOTE] This usally means that it's very collectable or usally for me, it means parts are hard to find . @Fireexit1 thank you ,the only thing that really needs replacing other than the normal seals and jets is the center/base plate as the chrome has totally rusted off .
Yes this one is plated, its also what I would consider upside down as the dished part would normally on the bottom . I have tried it the other way up but because of the way the vapouriser is designed it won't clamp down .
I'm very envious as I collect petclones (cool name BTW) but haven't yet found a Butterfly at a reasonable price.
Hi Collin, petclone wasn't my idea I adopted it after reading it somewhere, it's a little more friendly than what most people call them hahaha . As for the reasonable price ,Ive got a tight wallet and wouldn't have paid much more than a couple of rounds at the local . I like the anchors and other types of clone lamps they are very hands on in the way of maintenance
I agree, most of the clones are pretty good. Steel isn't the best material and Anchors and other 'budget' brands can suffer from rust, but for the most part, they work well. The worst clone I have is an Indian Prabhat. The steel is tin can thin and the whole thing is really badly made - much worse even than the Sea Anchor which as a pretty bad reputation. My three Solar lanterns are very nice as was a lot of the lanterns that came out of the Union Metal Works in Hong Kong. I think I need to have a clone light-up again!
