Today's bargains. Fairly sure of a later 255 (no lyre) Difficult to determine age. The older carburetor makes me unsure of age. There is a lot to do but can probably be a nice lamp. Anyone know about newly made glass domes? Have seen sellers on Ebay before but not now when I need one.
Age is somewhere in the last half of the 40s. It should clean up alright but I don't know how much of a shine you'll get out of the nickel. The globe is going to be a challenge. At the moment I don't know of any producers of reproductions.
Thanks Nils! Was there somewhere I placed it too. Will see if I have time to start cleaning tonight. Well I have no hopes of being able to reflect in it . Have posted a few threads about glass but have no high hopes of finding one quickly.
I started with the hardest part and the part that takes the most beating, the hat! I have over time tried to refine my polishing and be as kind as possible to the nickel. Think this lamp can be beautiful again
Thanks so much! The cleaning is done in 3 steps. First a cleaning to get rid of oxides. Mild warm citric acid about 1-20 for 10 minutes. Then a soft hand polish with Autosol Finishes with a bench polisher. Uses a mild polish with low sharpness and high gloss called Ultrashine white on a glossy disc.
