Hello. I'm TOMOS, who sells vintage lanterns in Japan. Please tell me. I bought optimus1200 from Sweden. However, this lantern does not have a preheat burner even though it is 1200. There are no holes in the tank. The pressure gauge is engraved with "IMF". Is this lantern special? Thank you.
Hi @TOMOS , is there any inscription on the fount that says it is indeed an Optimus 1200? To be honest, to me it looks more like a Chinese copy. Someone with more experience on Optimus lanterns will sure be able to tell us more.
But is has a spirit cup for methylated spirit, this is the preferred method to light these. The collar does indicate that it was made for a quick light torch, obviously missing but is detriment. Martin
Hello these lanterns (1200) without quick starter, and even the 200/200P with cut out holes in cage, are very common to find in Swedish surplus storages (or used to be) they were used by the Swedish civil defense, military and the red cross. The military was not very picky with the set up, and Optimus took what they had at and to fill these orders.
