Very cool lanterns, Australian made, your pictures make it look brand newish and if taken last century probably was, This is my latest Collins brother find. I plan on restoring it , may need some help, it’s missing a burner cap, @Tony Press
@Darryl Durdin The Collins Bros lanterns were made in the 1940s, probably starting in the war years. They were almost certainly Gloria lanterns, and marketed by Collins Bros who were a product distribution business, and who shared “Gloria House” in Sydney (Australia) with Gloria/JB Chandler. The control knob on your Gloria, photographed above, is the same as on this example. It looks very much like a radio knob. JB Chandler (who owned Gloria) were expanding their business into electrical retail, including radio production and sales. Can you let me know the diameter of the burner tube. I’ll see if I’ve got a burner cap that fits. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony, the cap tube is 15mm, I tried a few different caps but nothing I had seem to work, I didn’t want to force anything
