Hello, Got me one 1020 from the year 1955, stamped AU z on the bottom, it has the late style open nut that holds the cage to the fount, no burner plate or cone inside the hood, and some Arabic letters below the Primus/Bahco logo. I think it needs a new jet, but is otherwise fine. Regards / Frederik
Very nice example Frederik. The cage base nut is interesting. It looks like they have used a nut from a 1060. This has been seen a few times on 1020s from 1955 and 1956, but you also see the "normal" nut used as well. Maybe Primus used the 1060 nut if they ran out of stock of the standard domed nut.
Yes, it starts to overheat after sometime (red hot mixing tube) and starts to burn outside the mantle, i will try to make some adjustments before changing jet. (if I can find one ) It was used alright, but cleaned up nicely !
This was added at the same time as the other changes (no inner cone in the hood, no burner plate). This was done during 1954. You find 1954 1020s in both the "old" and "new" configuration.
Yes the globe tells the story of burning outside the mantle. Good luck ! - it will definitely be worth it...
