I just got my first Tilley today. I believe it is an X246 from the 50’s but not really sure.

Can anyone help me to date it?

At this point I’m just cleaning it up. But want to move toward firing. What do I need to know and check?

What do you think about the generator?

    The pricker wire isn't broken.

Tyler, The lantern looks in good condition and should clean up nicely. Have a watch of Broadlander (a member here)

What a nice lantern it is.

Thanks for the point to Broadlander as well as instructions, had fun watching that and of course learned a few things.

Look after that nice, not so common, blue stamped Tilley 171 globe…

    Cheers

That's cleaned up nicely, doesn't look like its had a large amount of use.

What’s the best source for X246 compatible mantles? I searched the local sponsor fettlebox and they don’t seem to sell mantles.

Also, I suppose a vintage correct funnel and pre-heat cup might be nice to have if there’s a shop that specializes in such items.
