Mewa or Hasag?

Hi, I bought this lamp recently, it looks like Mewa but inside, rod and vapouriser is from Hasag. I can see something like that for the first time. Do I guess correctly so inner parts are original from Hasag put in Mewa in manufacture after WW II?

 

I'd say, Mewa used Hasag parts, as it departed from Hasag Leipzig tools and spares.

I'd say that your lantern is a 351 Ln that was made in GDR up to around 1956 at VEB Leuchtenbau / Metallwarenkombinat Leipzig. It is often simply referred to as "Starklichtlaterne mit Normengewinde". It is almost identical to the Hasag lanterns 351 L which were produced before WWII, and parts can be interchanged.

It could well be that there were some parts from the earlier Hasag production used up in the GDR production, but there is no evidence in the documents for this theory so far. Mind you that the Hasag works were almost 100% destroyed because they were an important weapons manufacturer during the war, and lantern production at Hasag stopped already early in the war.

The tops of the pre-war vaporizers didn't look mushroom-shaped with simple slanted side like at your lantern, but more like a spool of yarn, indented in the middle.

The successor of the 351 Ln was the 361 Ln, which had a different (straight) vaporizer and used a clay burner. Some parts of those lanterns are partly no more interchangeable with earlier versions because they used e. g. different threads.

You should be able to see the GDR quality mark on the top nut of your lantern with a triangle logo like this:

This mark was used for high-quality products, and the numbers designate the place of manufacturing. However, it was only the second highest quality category. The highest category was used for the fully chrome-plated version called 61 Ln, equipped with pressure gauge.

So when were made mushroom-shaped tops then, after WW II?
