Hi all, Looking for the obscure, odd and rare lamps, I recently struck luck, when I unexpectedly got a package with a very early Christmas present, from the Czech republic. It was our friend @Dusan from Brno, that was sending me Elektra lamp parts and an unknown, un-branded lamp; a lamp he has presented here before in a gravity lamp (Elektra) thread. Dusan told me he had now decided to dispose of his alcohol lamps and I got this very odd lamp from him (many thanks Dusan)! This lamp has several parts, smaller but similar and even identical to another alcohol lamp of mine ... the Mundus II hanging donut lamp. The manufacturer of the Mundus lamps are still unknown, so more digging needed to come up with more information. I spent some time with the computer and finally came up with an interesting 1928 paper from Czechoslovakia, where among other lamps one can see the Mundus II lamp and the lamp I got from Dusan, here in this paper, as a stand lamp - "Piccolo". So now I decided to try to restore the lamp with the guidance of that paper image. A lot of working hours bringing this lamp back to a stand lamp and here you can see the result. The paper says it gives a light output of 60/70 CP, which seems about right. Easy going these alcohol lamps, always nice runners. /Conny Here is the lamp I got from Dusan ... …… The 1928 paper/ad from Praha/Czechoslovakia My Mundus II and Piccolo ...... .....and my two odd and rare Czechoslovakian stand lamps, Karlin and Piccolo ......
Wow. Incredible. You should start an exhibition. What lantern meets do you join? Would like to see those rarities in real life....
Always an absolute pleasure to see your posts @Conny C . A remarkable lamp and a remarkable restoration!
