Well it arrived today and my first thought is it needs a lot of tlc . No pressure in the font and everything is seized up and I mean seized nothing moves or turns but on the plus side after a quick gander the pricker needle is still present so that's good . Apart from that I'd struggle to find anything positive about it but it's so damn sexy I've got to spend time and cash on it . Merry Christmas. Pete
Nice find and it should clean up nicely. Remember, be patient, penetrating oil and a little heat are your friends. Merry Christmas
@ROBBO55 The pic looks better than real life I'm afraid but I'm in no rush to get it up and running get Christmas out of the way then I'll spend a little time on it a citric bath and a good polish of everything will give me a clearer picture. Merry Christmas
Hi guys hope you all had a great Christmas. I'm just having a fettle and came across this bar which I assume is part of the pricker needle assembly my question being does it come out ? It's totally seized and doesn't move even slightly with finger pressure and I'm unwilling to force anything so poured oil into every orifice just need to know if it can and how
Yes it does come out. In their wisdom, Veritas used some sort of rubber compound to act as a seal for both the cleaning needle spindle and the on / off valve. Over time, the compound goes as hard as rock and more often than not, welds itself to either the housing, the spindle or both. If this is the case, it's already useless and needs to be replaced. Personally, I find the best way to get the old seal out is to heat the area with a blowtorch until the rubber either softens enough to release itself or burn away. Replacement seals are available from www.base-camp.co.uk here Veritas 350 & Superb
@Henry Plews Thanks Henry for the information I thought it must come out but I'd no idea how it's just solid . I'll leave it soak in oil for a day or so see if that does anything if not then I'll get the torch on it . I think basecamp are back open today so I'll get onto that too. Many thanks
