Hi I should have done this before now but as you know life takes over sometimes. I had a thought about making a "kit" to change my Tilley into a stove, then after cooking back to a lamp again, to save carrying a separate stove and came up with this. Not sure if its been done before.

The little adaptors fit underneath the trivet and sit on top of the cage. These were prototypes to see if it would work (made from .22 shells) but the ones I'm making now will screw to the cage to secure it.

I then stripped the bottom out of an old vaporiser (thanks ColinG)and then made an adaptor to accept the vaporiser end and a primus roarer burner. So to change my Tilley into a stove I remove the hood, glass and vaporiser and fit the new vaporiser/burner unit and trivet. To change back after cooking is just the reverse. Works really well. I have a video of it working but can't upload as it says the extension (MP4) is not allowed. Not sure what extensions are allowed to upload a video.

    Cheers Mark

Yes, this type of conversion has been done before.

That's a neat idea. As Jeff says, conversions of Tilleys to stoves has been done before, but I don't remember seeing one where it was intended to be able to change back and forth.

I made mine a dedicated stove.
The regret I have (and I did think about doing it), was not utilising the shut-off valve. Very handy for the plain burners.
    As a trade-off I fitted a regulated burner with a shut-off valve, its six and two-threes really.

    Nice build

    Nice work, Mark.
Now you need to make the storage box to transport all the pieces in.
