Hi guys I've just received this service kit for my superb off basecamp but I'm not sure it's the right one. Nothing seems to correspond with anything on the lamp unless I'm mistaken which is quite possible what do you think?.
Looks O.K. to me. Top to bottom, Left: Graphite packing for on/off needle valve (much better than the original rubber seal). Two O rings (probably Viton) to replace original crappy rubber seal on cleaning needle spindle. Lead washer for pump NRV. Centre: Rubber pip for inside the pump NRV. Vapouriser washer. Probably VV2/6 fuel valve seating washer, this is surplus to requirements as the Superb valve has a tapered thread. Right: Leather pump washer. Filler cap seal. VV69/5 Pump split pin, not Superb
@Henry Plews Thanks Henry I was looking for like for like rather than alternatives though as you say better and my lamp didn't come with many if any seals but lots of plumbers tape so thanks again
@Henry Plews Sorry to be a pain Henry but this cleaning needle set up is baffling me . Do the two o rings fit in the middle of the shaft together and the pricker needle doesn't reach the jet which is another story.
Yes, they replace the original seal 3-211 V between the two brass 'cam retainers' . From memory, the actual needle needs to be about 4 or 5mm long. Here's an image of the vapouriser with broken needle from my Superb. I made a new needle using 3mm, 2mm, 1mm brass tubing and some 0.006" stainless steel wire. It works but would be better if I'd left the wire 1mm longer. Original above.
@Henry Plews Sorry Henry I should have updated my message I got it sorted. The pricker needle works fine and she's up and running a slight halo outside the mantle which I think is the jet and a leak somewhere in the middle which I'll track down when I get time ,thanks for all your help. Pete
