Hi fellas, this is my Dutch water department Tilley, it fell from a great height, the 78 globe smashed and the frame was a bit bent, the lantern has come down on the pump it bent it in and bent the pump handle, I hand straightened it carefully as possible, I noticed the ring did break away from the tank, the g clamp is just there to stop it falling in, any suggestions on how and what I need to fix it, much appreciated

You may be able to simply heat around the ring with a small torch to remelt the solder if both sides are still tinned. If it won't seal run some flux into it and try again, if it still won't seal clean as close to the joint as possible on both the ring and tank, flux then solder.

I would give the ring and the area of the tank near to it a good clean up and then resolder it into place.

Hello Darryl, to protect as much of the original paint as possible perhaps take some time to practice first.
Find some clean brass to get your flux, solder heat combinations nailed, then some scrap tanks for a real world test.
I spent two days continually soldering the filler on my American rust machine, unfortunately the solder was not as strong as the rust holding the filler cap on but after two days my soldering was much improved.
One tip perhaps is give it a clean with just flux before you start or just use plenty of it, but remember to protect the paint as it's messy and corrosive stuff.
    Good luck!
