    I Didn't want to start collecting pressure lamps, but I am waiting on delivery of number 4 lol. But of course I have been doing a bit of reading and checking out E-Bay etc, The first lamp I bought was a Chinese Petromax clone(Butterfly) which cleaned up quite nice with no flaking chrome and no rust, I hand polished it with solvol Autosolve, but I didn't go mad, just made it tidy and lit it up. It looks original and not a lot different from the day it was bought. It was a 500CP so a bit big for my little flat so I looked for something smaller. So I bought a Vapalux M320, I didn't want to spend time refurbishing one so I paid a bit more and bought one ready to go, and on reflection I am not sure about it, The tank is polished brass and everything else that's brass has been buffed with what looks to me like a polishing wheel. Don't get me wrong, The guy is a refurbisher/seller on E-Bay and has done a first class job on it but it looks a little false to me. Did they ever sell a Vapalux M320 with a polished brass tank, I have the feeling that it was painted originally and has been stripped and polished to make it look better to sell easier, I think in retrospect that I would prefer original rather than tarted up, even if it is well done. I feel the same when I see restored cars that are never driven, always trailered to shows and looking far better than the day they came off the production line, it just doesn't seem right to me although I admire the dedication and attention to detail and hard work gone into it, I just prefer the natural look, what do you think?

    You are correct M320 was never sold in polished and lacquered brass. The two civilian types were either chrome plate or silver paint and the Military normally olive drab paint. ::Neil::

    @Mackburner

    Have you any idea if the Military 320's were stamped on the base at the factory, i've had quite a few silver painted ones with the Military crows foot underneath?
