    20220209_102626.jpg Hi,

thx for looking. I am trying to figure out what lamp model I have as it doesn't seem to fit any pictures exactly. It is a "quicklight" as the word is spelled out in dots on the collar. It has a glass globe and I am wondering if the original globe was mica.

Under the sunshine on the fount is stamped "9 3"

I am not one of the experts here, but it appears to be a 327 with an R55 generator. Yes, they had mica globes.

I forgot to mention that the bail attachments to the frame changed more than once over the years so don't be thrown by that.

Thx. I was confused by the generator. is the generator the original part number? All I saw posted on the web are slant and the one with a 360 degree bend.

I think that the R55 came out in the mid-1930s, so your lantern being a 1929 should have a Q99 gen (the one with the loop).

However, many prefer the functionality of the R55, so use whatever you like.

March 1929 327. Notice the cutout in the base of the frame is like the L220/L228's of the same era. Neat piece. Your R55 will work just fine, happy fettling

The R55 was advertised by Coleman as a replacement for the Q99 - so both are arguably "original"

The burner frame is a factory repurposed slant frame that has gone through a correcting restamp process before assembly, these have been found in every month of 1929, L227, L327, L427 as well as some Sunshine Safety models, also notice there is no half moon cut out for fuel/air filler as all other US Quick-Lite L327/427 did from 1921-1940, slants did not have the cut outs.

The US L327 was standard equipped from Coleman with the Q99 generator through its run, July 1936 is so far the latest stamped found so far.
US L427 shows to have started to receive the R55 in the 1937 model year as standard equipment.
As mentioned above the R55 would have otherwise been an upgrade previous to this dating.
