Two sources now for mica lantern chimneys

I don't know if all saw the prices and contact for a younger maker of mica chimneys over on CCF? He is a ICCC member I guess. I placed a order and paid for three chimneys 9 days ago and got shipment news today. Cool! Will see how quality compares to Fred's, this takes pressure off of Fred and a replacement source when Fred gets up in years more and can't make them anymore. Also, has email, phone and Paypal. I need to figure which lanterns I need to place them on as I have two small ones carried over from about a year ago. Nice to have a good chimney now for a rare AGM 335 lantern and a few other lanterns that weren't too bug resistant.

Are you talking from Rob Butts? If so, he’s not over CCF. He’s mainly on Facebook and Facebook groups.

 

Thank you, yes, I understand he is on FB. Info was just posted to CCF. I just found out as I don't do FB. I need to keep his phone # and email for future reference if I need more. I like the original chimneys with there patina if I can call the accumulated smoke and dirt that, just some come with too large of holes to keep bugs out that ruin mantles.

I'm hoping he made a custom chimney for my AGM which is sized different than a Coleman QL or 200/242.

I just received three, one a custom for my AGM 335, so he may do other makes (Euro) if he is familiar with their style. Maybe he can expand. Shipping was $15 or $20 USD. Turn around was under 3 weeks. The two full sized ones had heavy mica, not what came on original unless original deteriorated.

Yes i've heard that about Fred, sadly mine is missing altogether so don't have dimensions as yet,

I would be up for that PB although i only need the one at the moment, i would have to try and order something in the hope of finding a suitable lantern for it to fit at a later date possibly,

Did they come fully assembled, i think i read somewhere that Fred's Internationally shipped ones come flat packed, i do have some nice little copper rivets that i used to repair an Evening Star Mica globe.

 

The two batches I have had from Fred over the years arrived fully assembled. Maybe he didn't trust me....

Mine came assembled. Last order from Fred came rounded with rivets in small package.
