Hi Missing label. Borrowed top hat and glass from 821. As I don’t like the pre-heater torch I improvised a cup. Faint scratching underneath «2 2» and the spoon level for torch makes me believe it is 1942?
No.If it where from 1942 it should look like this : 2/42 The flame tube points upwards. Steeper than the following models. The hole for the Rapid is further in than in the following models. If the hand wheel was never exchanged, then I would estimate the age at 1938/39/40. I think the old rotary rapid was replaced by this cast zinc rapid lever. Reinhard
I have the pre-heater controls illustrated in the PLC. The dates given for the two zinc types are from patents DE700213 5th September 1939 and DE746763 9th February 1941. The 1939 patent is specifically for the pre-heater which likely went into production for the 1939-1940 season. The 1941 patent however is for an improvement and illustrates the rocker valve with a heel but is not specific for this later type of zinc valve so the 1941 type may well also have been produced during 1940. ::Neil::

This Petromax,manufactured in February 1939,has a zinc lever installed which was patented in 1941. As I can see in my collection, this preheater from 1941 was installed in November 1940 but not in 1939.This preheater was installed outside the collar. This changed the angle of inclination of the flame. This new preheater was more effective and the flame was now aimed right at the triangle on the kerosene carburettor. Reinhard
