Hello everyone, I have just gotten into lanterns/lamps over the past few years and this Christmas my friends and brother got me a brand new Petromax 500cp lantern. It runs great and I have not had any problems with it so far, but I have ran it a few times and it is a bit different than my little Coleman 200a so I was wondering if anyone knows if there are instructions other than the manual on how to take the Petromax apart properly to clean it, it is a bit confusing and I am slightly terrified to try and take it apart for fear of breaking something. Any suggestions? Also it runs fine now as I said, but I was just asking how to take it apart to clean it for later when I do need to do it.
hello Joshua, Welcome to this forum with your nice lantern. As for a manual, there are some collectors who have made a extensive manual on their website. But I have these addresses not at hand. In principle you can break down the whole lantern in all its components. But then you need a lot of seals again to get it all air thight again. Generally if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Ok, I would not have thought to put it in that wording, I’ve looked before but I could not find anything worthwhile. I will look and see now.
