Picked up a frame and new old stock pleated lampshade for the British aluminium A23 (approx date 1969-1975).
It gives out a nice light and keeps the room warm too..

Very interesting @Anthony . Thanks for posting
This one did come in a box with three other brass 23s. I do have a matador chimney but the one I posted above has a heeled gallery. Safe to say the second PDF must be an earlier catalogue as it offers heeless as standard and heeled as spares.
It has a British made burner so probably not an export to the US or ZA.

Well they look easier to come by in the states - and with a greater variety of styles and patterns. Aladdin Lamp Shades

We have an Aladdin with the pleated shade. Always reminds me of those pleated dresses like Mum used to wear from time to time.
Parked up somewhere with the Cortina, and brewing up. Nothing special, just a Gaz in it's tin box. Early sixties.

Great picture. Teapot (important) inquisitive dog, teenager being a teenager and mum looking sideways at the fellow with a camera.
Took me back to my childhood
    Cheers

Ta. AMU893A, that puts it at 1963, Summer of that year, I would have been 15 - and nine stone!
The Cortina was followed by an Anglia Super which was Dad's last car.

Could you show some pictures of how the shade mounts? I have a couple of those aluminium Aladdins and think this shade really suits them.

Inside the pleated shade at the bottom is a circle of wire with three loops extending about 20mm inwards.
The loops locate on three arms that extend from the base of the burner.

The frame is mild steel, painted white. The frame came separately to the shade, which was packged folded up like a fan, wrapped in paper. Stretching it round the frame was a bit worrying as the plastic and string is a bit old and I worried it may have gone brittle.

Sorry Nils, should have confirmed that as a 'Yes'.

The material feels fragile, and mine has a small split near the bottom. But I have just pulled it off (with difficulty) and replaced it (easier) without any further mishap.

    Frame and pleated shade separated.

Thanks for the extra photo Derek. I liked the look of them and have actually ordered a couple. They should arrive any day. I'll arrange some photos when they do.
