Hi all, I scored this one the other day, consensus on other forums suggest it's a 242k/247 transition. It's got nothing on the collar which is split on both sides, vent is green underneath, aluminum preheat cup and a skinny generator like a 242 one. The pricker lever or wheel has snapped off and it's dated 12/35

Has it got a hex bolt, or a screw in its filler lid?? U.S., or Canadian production???

It's got most characteristics of a 242K, for sure.

@burndout no hex head just a screw, and I think the pump is different to other ks I've seen pictures of and it's also got a straight pickup tube

My early 247 has the "wheel" but not the split collar nor lighting cover in the bottom. My date was in '36 I believe.

PS: I put an aftermarket wheel on my "K" and found a straight pickup for it.

Hi @hikerduane I don't know if mine had a wheel or not but I put a wheel off an Aladdin 1A on just to get her fired up. Works fine for now anyway IMG_20220321_183257_copy_2592x3456.jpg

    Hi Brian
I have a 252K/247 transition dated March 1935, shown below.
The only difference from a 242K, that I can see, is mine has no lighting trapdoor in the frame base. In all other respects it has all the features of the 242K, including the hex headed screw on the filler cap.

Hi @AussiePete wow that's a fantastic example, nice job! Mines got no lighting door, no hex head, newer pump handle and a standard check valve rather than an NRV
    Cheers

Nice example @AussiePete! Get the correct generator for the lantern.

@Pancholoco1911 I would have thought it was the correct generator for these, mine is the same but had fiberous sleeve instead of the cardboard tube. It's the same gen as a 201 I believe

A cardboard tube replaced the earlier (asbestos) fibre in generators for Coleman Fuel lamps & lanterns. Kerosene generators have one or two coils inside. The coil in this 201 generator is made from aluminium.

Edit: the coil is upside down in this image.

@Brian Reynolds generator tube it’s the same but all the guts and fast tip are not.

new 201-9851 has the “TD” stamped in gas tip side and orifice it’s 0.006” with aluminum coil

old TK66 has the “3” stamped in gas tip side and 0.006” gas orifice with brass coil

White gas generators were T66 (old) and 200A9851 (current)

T66 packing was asbestos, steel coil and 200a9841 steel coil and non-asbestos packing. Both have the same stamping on the side of the gas tip “6” and gas orifice it’s 0.007”

Is this in the Reference Gallery? [I assume it’s “242K/247” not 252K].

    Cheers

    Yes, you’re right it’s, I believe, a 242K/247 transition model.
Ah .......no. It’s hasn’t been entered into the reference gallery yet. I’ll get it done when I get home.
    Cheers
