Another one back to life today, Canadian 249 3/45. It looks a bit rough but it's solid. It was missing it's pricker rod and with the crazy postage cost from America making old Coleman parts out of the question, I had a look at a 214 generator I've got and the rod is the same length give or take, so I stuck it in and seems to work a treat. I'm thinking the orifice in the tip would be about the same size both being kero and about the same cp I think. The pricker wire slides through with no resistance so I won't damage the tip or will I?

@Brian Reynolds , cool lanterns, seems to be doing a top job, as long as the pricker clears the jet you should be ok.
    Hours of fun

The 249 is one of my favourite lanterns. Small but plenty bright for the campsite.

That is a great job! Necessity is the mother of invention as they say. I hope to have a 249 one day.

    Well done, she’s running well.
The 249 is a top lantern and great to have on a camp.
    Enjoy

A very decent oldie, with the kidney shaped metho cup. The 249 pricker rod and needle is the same as the 201, 241 and 214. The gas tip (jet) is the same as the 201 and 241. The 214 gas tip also has the same jet aperture but is the larger new hex head type.
