hasag or mewa ?

    A few days ago I bought this lantern,hasag and mewa351 have many things in common. The lantern have fibre handwheel and a small windows at the button of the basket. Hasag or Mewa I have no idea. Could you give me some ideas about the lantern ,thanks a lot!

    MEWA lantern
    The fuzzy logo under the button of the tank tell me ,It's a mewa?

    Looks like a Mewa 351L which is actually Leipziger-Werke 351L. The stamp in the base should be this.

    Actually this is a 361L, as I assume from the shape of the generator. You can see this from the attached part of a technical drawing, drawn on February 8, 1952 and approved on April 23, 1955.
    The 361L made by VEB Leipziger Werke can be regarded the successor of the 351L made by Hasag as the "domestic version" of GDR . The "luxury version" for export made from brass with all nickel plating was the 61L, as also mentioned on the drawing.

    There are several steps of evolution at the GDR manufacture, and not all parts are compatible among them. Earlier versions (still called 351L) had the brass burner with steel mesh / screen and the "mushroom" shaped generator, which are still compatible with the old Hasag versions. Later versions called 361L / 61L had the straight generator and a clay burner. These also used different threads for the jet than the earlier versions, for example.
