    It's a nice looking lantern, Mike :thumbup:

    If it hasn't been fettled it will probably need a filler cap seal. And possibly a new seal (PIP) in the non return valve (NRV) in the bottom of the pump tube. It might leak around the spindle for the picker control but tightening the gland nut usually stops the leak.

    With the filler cap tightened submerge the lantern in hot water. You will soon see if there are any leaks and where.

    Unscrew the nipple (jet) and you will be able to see if the pricker needle is there or not. While you have the nipple out check that the jet is clear. I usually use a 0.006 " wire to clear jets.

    Check around the tank rim for stress cracks (shown in the link in first reply). They can usually be repaired using lead solder. But if you have had kerosene in the lantern and it didn't leave a puddle on the bench it is probably OK.

    These lanterns are a kerosene lantern and not designed to run on gasoline.

    Hi there, you can get a viton on O ring from an Auto shop. They will work fine. You need viton or nitril rubber for the pip 3mm thick. Or get the NRV refurbishment kit from the fettlebox they work well and are great quality
    @camping.mike
    Aladdin 1A are very cool lanterns.
    Jet and pricker needles you can get from eBay, radius 199 are very similar needle / pricker. If you have the skills set make a pricker rod. If not I can send you one, happy fettle. Also you can make your own NRV remover. Cut a 5mm wide slot 6mm deep in the end of a 19mm diameter bolt.
    The bolt needs to be 2-3 cm longer than the pump tube.

    Mike

    The Aladdin 1A filler cap washer is 1.5mm thick Viton (or cork) 18.3mm diameter.

    You’d be better off getting your bolt cut to make an NRV remover in the USA as postage from Australia will be pricey.

    Cheers

    Try the Auto shop, viton O Rings, probably your easiest place, I’ve bought them from there, work great easy to fit, take your cap with you

    Hi guys, I've just joined up the forum so thank you for having me. Years ago I was playing around with pressure stoves and joined what may be a sister forum to this one. I recocgnise some of the names here!

    I picked up one of these Aladdin pressure lamps yesterday on FB Marketplace. From what I've read here, it's a 1A and it's the chrome one. It's in good nick apart from a broken ceramic flame spreader. The ceramic part is seated in a brass ring that has a thread which screws into the top part of the generator. I'm not sure what the solution is as I don't seem to be able to find any replacements online. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this?

    I'm guessing the ceramic diffuser screws into the brass collar? Due to the age of it, it seems stuck. The ones I've seen online just seem to be ceramic with a male thread IMG_6005.jpeg IMG_6006.jpeg IMG_6007.jpeg IMG_6008.jpeg .

    You will need either an old Aladdin ceramic like the one you have; or the newer replacement which is the bare ceramic and a brass fitting:

    @Bruce T

    The original had an asbestos washer that compressed during manufacture.
