THIS post of my Bialaddin 300X in action was moved by a Mod to the ‘Open Forum’. Reason given when I asked, not having enough ‘lamp’ action. I resolved to re-shoot, pairing up with the 1920’s Optimus 80 I’d included in the Bialaddin post a lantern more in period, THIS Canadian Coleman LQ327 from 1928. So, some lamp action emphasis … and the Optimus makes a guest appearance - merely. John
Good descision. After all this is a site for lamps and lanterns And apart from actually showing some lamp action this time, you also showed us a much nicer lantern, so well done. Old Coleman's are the best! Oh, well... Maybe Primus are a tad bit better. Very nice old 327.
Mmm, ‘nicer’ than the Bialaddin? The maroon tank 300X is a favourite of mine and of many others too. Functionally it’s a strong performer and there’s appeal in the patina of old paint and the gleam of hood enamel. The Coleman is different, is all. A fine lantern but no ‘nicer’ in my view.
The Coleman and Optimus make a lovely couple, certainly a better age match. I do like the patina of the Bialaddin though. Going back to the Coleman that's the first time I've seen one with a circular access hole.
