Hi all On the handle, I can read : Coleman Quick-lite CQ the Coleman lamp Co, Wichita, Kansas, USA What does CQ means ? I guess this lamp is around 1925 (?) please confirm it could have been sold by Markt & Co Ltd which was an american importator for France. they had a shop in Paris and Bruxelles lampes a pression, petrole, essence, alcool, chauffage rechauds
Bonjour Michel, a couple years ago I bought the same model on the French ebay. It came without glass shade. Starting in 1924 Coleman added a production date to all its products. If yours isn't dated, it will be older than 1924. The founts came in different colours (or laquers), I think yours was called "Flemish Bronze". It is a nice touch yours also has the hanging rod! Bien à vous, Wim
As at the first day, the lamp runs at the first try this morning the only problem is the black button which is missing a half if somebody could find a spare for this old lady, this would be highly appreciated
The build quality is excellent and that is a fine example and as far as i know CQ=Coleman Quick-Lite.
Thanks for the comments, Wim Yes Jeff, the lamp is very heavy, we are not robbed with the brass weight ;-) the patent is engraved on the burner so I think this lamp is beetween 1919 and 1923 In the gallery, I saw added letters after CQ (CQF, CQG) what are those letters for ? for the color ? Mine would be a CQF (flemish bronze) ?
What kind of genarater do they use I just got one but has no genarater and how do you get pressure in it I’ve only ever delt with lanterns lol I’m lost
Hi I am not a Coleman specialist, this generator seems to me to be a very classic one I have seen the sames one on old Coleman lamps You need a Coleman pump in order to pressure the fount
Hi Mark, If you scroll up to the beginning of the thread, in the first photo Michel shows the pump you need? Also Old Coleman Parts sell the Q99 generator.. they may even sell a pump? Very helpful folks
@Michel Here is a link to my fettle of a CQ lamp. It explains a bit about the CQ/C also, further down in the associated thread, it states that the R55 was around when the CQ was in production. Coleman CQ/C - Fettle Hope this helps. Cheers Pete
