He all I was wondering as I don't know much about Coleman, what is the difference between these 2 generators?
I know the one on the right is a R55, which I'm using in my CQ table lamp, I can see there are differences in the design, buts that's all, are they both R55 generators and just different years? Or completely different
Any help would be much appreciated thanks.
    Here is a photo thanks.

@Buggerlugs the generator on the left is actually an iron gen #604-299. It's common to find these on lamps as they're very similar and work just fine in my experience. The R55 uses a 0.008" orfice whereas the iron gen uses a 0.0085" orfice... I see no noticable difference when running lamps/lanterns with the iron gen.

Very impressive you are correct I brought some spare parts that I knew were from a Coleman iron for $10 bucks.
I knew the generator wasn't the same but for $10 why not give it a try right? Besides I do have a Coleman iron that I have never used or fettled with.
Here are the results 3 hours on my lamp is still running and looks fine to me.
