Tilley X246 Guardsman 1950 - 1954 Question? (Pork Pie Pump)

Hello all, I was wondering has anybody else came across a Tilley X246 1950-54 Guardsman with a pork pie style pump before? The pumps are also spectrum, chrome or what ever is the correct plating term as well.

I am asking this question as its the second time that I have purchased a lamp with a Pork Pie pump, now the first time I thought nothing of it, maybe someone had changed it over, but a second time Hmm..

This got me thinking, they are both the early X246 Guardsman and were bought years apart and hundreds of (KM) away from each other but in the same state (Victoria) Australia.

I will be interested in hearing what people think or know about this question.

I’ve got a few.
They must have been on Guardsmans because the plated pork pies are very uncommon in Australia.

 

@Anthony Cool I do like the look of the Pork Pie pumps on the Guardsman, I shall keep them on the lamps as a different variation thank you mate.

 

Brian, I have one and also wondered about its originality.

 

It's possible that Tilley were using up pumps which they had in stock.
