Hi any lamp i get i dump any fuel or crap in the garden somewhere put more fuel in eg parrafin and a handful of M6 or m8 nuts in and shake it around for a bit. I keep doing this with clean fuel till its looking better. i get the nuts out with a magnet on the end of a telscopic rod they sell them at these cheap tool shop for picking bits up when working on car engines pete
Thanks dosnt this dent it? I thought some chemical or other would clan it? I was thinking of a dish washer tablet as these are caustic?
Go to http://www.frost.co.uk/ and buy some Marine Clean. I have not found anything better for cleaning out old fuel residues and such from lamp tanks. ::Neil::
Thanks, I was hoping something found at home or work would do it to avoid having to spend any money LOL I cant find the link on here for the man who sells seals etc? Who would you reccomend for Mantles?
you wont dent the tank with the nuts in they are more to loosened rust and debris inside this is the method i always use, i have thought about marine clean as neil really rates it but as of yet never got around to trying buying any! i assume you have a tilley? get mantles from basecamp or direct from tilley or ebay. Ross owner of this site does the washers see the trading post i think. or ebay he sells under the name spiritburner but no washer sets for sale at the moment pete
Thanks It looks like a black coating with the odd copper coloured spec in it. I Tried MEK as I had some but didnt touch it, I also tried a tooth brush down the pump hole. Re parts What would I need? I assume the top of the page kit will sort one lamp?
