I have started tear down and cleaning/polishing of the slant. The vent isn’t right, and most likely is a total loss. It’s pretty beat. It doesn’t say Coleman anywhere, and the nickel plating is pretty much gone.

For my help seeking question, it appears there is an o-ring in the valve assembly where the generator threads in. I am including a photo for reference. There seems to be some wear on what looks like the o-ring. Just trying to troubleshoot ahead of assembly.

    Hi @Jon Glasel
I have fettled a L228 and please see the link below. It may be of some help.

    Coleman L228 Slant - Fettle

I don’t remember any “O” ring having been installed anywhere on my L228.
    Cheers
    Pete

Hard to tell from the photo, but originally that is just a tapered seat seal where the gen meets the valve assembly.

Gotcha. Thank you both. I did not monkey too much with the internals, but did clean the outside up. The valve passes air completely fine, but I have concerns about the packing. That will be replaced before assembly.
