    Hi All

Thanks very much for the help that was given to me to get this AGM 256a carburettor table table lamp working especialy Mackburner / Neil :D

This lamp has been a right old labour of love  :!: :!: :!:

The lamp had to be modded to get it going by adding a Schrader valve to the filler cap as a suitable check valve could not be found   , but this fitted in the original hole a treat :D

The pump tube was sealed with a brass bung that had been grooved to accept an O ring to make a fuel tight seal & i'll make a dummy pump knob to finish it off :D

The carb valve is quite a bit of work in itself & where the pricker fits in the bottom of the mixing tube was where the fuel pickup was blocked & this was a right bugger to clear as the whole carb assembly does not come right out of the fount.

I had to carefully feed a 0.008 guitar string down the valve tube until i found the pricker seat opening then push the wire through until the crap was cleared from the pickup & the fuel flowed freely up the valve tube into the ring under the main securing nut ( there is a fuel feed hole there to the main riser ) & once this was done i fired the AGM up without mantles to see if i got some blue flames , & i did!!!!

I fitted some cheapy mantles & this is what it looks like working 8)

The AGM is working well & is fitted with a Famos ( at least thats what i have been reliably informed it is ) shade , if anyone has any ideas on re-painting the fount with a crackle finish i'd be very greatful 8)

    Best regards Stu :D

    Hi Mart

Thanks 8)    i had a good look but they don't do a dark green base coat for the AGM  so i may have to strip it back to the good paint line & just give it a tickle of BRG to tidy it up :D  , but at least it's working :D/ :D/ :D/ :D

    Best regards Stu :D

You could go red-brown. This is described as Statuary Bronze and Mahagony Red. ::Neil::

Neil, I have the identical lamp you picture above with the same shade. My finish is bad. Where did you get the paint? Mine has a red undercoat with a brown/maroon topcoat. I can't find anywhere how to get the spiderweb Krackel finish. I also have an AGM 256a with a steel fount that has no paint left. The one good thing on the steel fount is that there are no leaks. I like these AGM lamps and have 3 of the 256 types. Any help you could give on the refinish would be appreciated. I am considering just painting the steel fount deep green. Would that be a mortal sin?
