I bought this box and from memory the empty spirit bottle. No idea whether a stove or a lantern went in it or maybe something else. The narrowing in the centre has me stumped. Posted it here in case anyone goes Oh that will hold a ........

On the other hand it may have been a stove of some kind; I just don't know. Looks to me like a fount about 6 3/4" wide went in the bottom. I hope to complete the box one day with something to go into it as it is well made.

As above, looks like a Tilley TL or PL may possibly fit?

Thanks everyone for the comments and especially @Steve Wood and @Rangie I think you have it nailed.:thumbup: It appears to have taken a 7" fount and I have a TL14 'Frankenstein' owing to picking the wrong Tilley radiator to convert :oops:. Anyway, I tried my 'TL14' and it fitted but it would not slide in far enough for the lid to close. I ended up sanding a little bit off the edges of the curved guide and it then slid in perfectly. The lid now closes.

I wondered about the rubber pads on three sides and suspected a shade might fit. I am sure that it was designed to fit one so perhaps a Tilley TL13. However, my repro shade may be a smidgeon too high by 1/8". The correct shade or the TL14 with the correct fount may be just that bit smaller and it would fit.

I can remove the 1/8" from the two guides that limit the movement on the mixing tube and are just stopping my shade from sliding in. Main thing is it holds the Tilley lamp very well.

I must have a case of TMY (too many years) because I should have thought of this lamp. It could also be used to hold a ML Tilley. The TL136 won't fit.

I am wrapped to now have a custom carry box for my Tilley Hand Lamp.

    @WimVe For your interest.

The small bit I had to remove to get the lamp fully in.

A Tilley ML will also fit but might rattle.

The Tilley shade would fit if my fount, gallery, burner and shade were all genuine. As Maxwell Smart would say, 'Missed by that much!'

Each side of the box lid is closed with a wooden dowel from the side.

    That’s really cool!

I was looking at the cut out above the pump and thinking that it may have been for the earlier tank, as you said?
The pump on the older tank is higher and the angle is slightly different?

    Regards

That is a really good find.

Maybe contact TW Sands and ask them if they were the supplier of the box.

    Interesting.
If you mofdify the top part like this you also have space for matches and mantles.
How does the lamp with shade fit? I guess that the rubber p[atches on the sides are for protecting a bigger thing like a shade.
