Hello everyone, newbie here. I just recently got my hands on an Optimus 1551 500 Cp from a garage sale. I early discovered that the pump wasn’t working. I lubricated the seal on the pump, but still it couldn’t push air into the tank. I concluded that something was wrong with the valve at the bottom of the pumping tube and removed this. In an effort to split open the valve, I managed to break the bottom of the valve. I can clearly see a spring inside, so I took a chance on trying to open it. Since I now got a crack in the valve, I’m afraid the valve is broken. I know a dealer in Sweden who specializes in these lanterns, but they couldn’t provide me a new valve. Does anyone here know where to get a new one, or if the bottom part (the thin part) of the valve can be replaced? I’ve attached an image of the valve and I appreciate any input on this matter. The red line indicates where I have a tear in the material that occurred when trying to open it. Marius.
As the 1551 was made in the same factory as Anchor, an Anchor part will work. I'm sure Fogas in Sweden can help. Failing that, a Petromax part will most likely fit. There are several suppliers of parts for them.
Here is the tool to use to separate the components of a non-return valve (not my idea, I learnt it here or at CCS): NRV repair using a drill chuck Cheers Tony
Hi guys. Thanks for your reply. I would very much appreciate if someone could provide me with a specific part number for a replacement that could work. Fogas in Sweden has sent me a casing for the valve, I decided to order it along with a service kit even though I have no idea if it’s the broken part. Therefore I would like to have a plan B in case the part I ordered is incorrect. Will definitely try using my drill to split open the valve, sounds like a good idea. Marius.
Talk or write to Conny at Fogas. He will be able to help you. I expect the valve is the same size as other Swedish product, but as it comes from China I'm not positive. I have split a couple of valve housings by trying to use a screwdriver in the slot. It always works holding the housing in a drill chuck though. An old drill chuck is always in my toolbox now.
Hi Marius, Did you find any spareparts or what was your final solution? I am asking because I have ended up in the same situation as you did…. Cheers/Björn
Welcome @Björn Myhrman Here you will find the service kit Servicesats till Optimus 1551 He does not seem to have a "Pumpventil" (non-return valve) listed for the optimus 1551 but he has generic ones that might fit. But you would need to ask him. Chris
Thank you Chris, I have seen the generic ones, I will ask them if those will fit the 1551. Cheers/Björn
