    Hi Norf
    :D :D I had to look twice. First I thought you were pretty lucky when you lit it up - getting the mantle so perfect.

    Got one for free some time ago.
    The sticker is a great improvement and not original to the lantern :-)

    I replaced the traditional bulb with an LED filament. Got an old car sidelight bulb and smashed the glass then soldered the filament to the electrodes with a current limiting resistor. It's very efficient, draws only 30mA so should run for a long time on batteries.

    I've got one of these and planned to swap out the bulb for an LED but you beat me to it @James

    Great.
    While ago refitted an electric livingroom Petromax Lantern with LED G4 12V "bulbs" for battery operation.
    Its as bright as the original with 20W LED power.
    But has electronic dimmer with remote control from a LED stripe .

    @ColinG here you are...
    It's all the same lantern. 230V cord with Led dimmer is detachable.
    Then replace 230V Led bulb with 12V Led holder and 18650 LiIon battery pack and RC.
