Hi fellas, I bought a Gloria 400, very cool but it had no burner tube or cap, the lantern was in good condition and only needed a good clean, I’ve kept with it’s original condition, I tried about 4 different tube bender companies but no one did it like what was needed, so in the spirit of I’ll do it my self I set about making one. First thank you @Anthony , @Tony Press for your wise advice and support and inspiration. I had a plan so I made some carful measurements and drew the plan on 1mm square graph paper I sourced material, I looked for brass tube but not much of what I was looking for and too distant and cost. I needed 16 mm tube I found what I needed at the bathroom section 16mm Crome towel rail. Cheap and plentiful. I tried heating and bend but it kept breaking and collapsed, I used a spring internal but that did work well either, I was given a tip by the fellas to use sand inside the tube so I YouTube it and watched what they did. I gave it a go. Seal the ends I compacted garnet in it. I made a basic bending jig. I made the burner in two parts. The 180 degree bend then the 90 degree. I have the parts so now the fine tuning. The 180• bend needed to be fitted to the keeper where the generator vaporises. Bit fiddle, the bend also has to fit inside the outer part and inner part. I cut away small bits and constantly compared it to my picture plan.I made the burner cap from an Aladdin 1A burner. I tapped the burner tube. And the inside of the burner cap part. It’s coming together. Still some more preparation cut file etc. it’s a bit of pre assembly ready to be soldered together aligning and ready for silver soldered it looks the part now You never know what you can do until you have to apply one’s self. I assembled everything and installed it in the lantern. It looks even better than thought. mom very impressed with my fettle skills, all self taught. Trial and error , learn something, try again.
