Got lucky getting this, no stress cracks, even had pressure in the fount when I unscrewed the chained fuel cap to check out the inside. Had not noticed or it wasn't featured in a photo, the multi-tool under the wing nut that holds down the cage. Easy to get running on kero/paraffin, even had I guess an original preheat cup and surprisingly the clip to keep the preheat cup from sliding into the mantle when dumping fuel back out. Read this has 500CP. A nice addition to my lantern and AGM collection.

Thank you. The globe looked really clean until I fired up the lantern, needs a good washing in my sink.

I've done as much as I'm going to do. Just washed off dust, checked fount innards for crud, cleaned the globe. Used some 0000 brass wool to clean some parts a little. Makes a little extra noise when starting, but gets to normal after a few minutes. I've had to paint a few lantern founts that were too far gone to leave as is, so those got repainted, I can't see shining everything up then set it on a shelf, as the first time it gets used afterwards, it is going to discolor parts. My extensive stove collection may not get rotated very well, but all are ready to be used backpacking or camping, same as my lanterns. Originality I think maintains value like my Coleman 234 and 235 lanterns.

Duane. Long time no chat. This is a military contract 3470 and not a C version.
    Just fyi.
The C version was quite a bit later and different configuration.

    Nice find though!

From what I have seen or read, the military version had stenciling on it regarding to only use kerosene/paraffin.

This does have the chained fuel cap and wrench that were on the military green model, would have to look more to see if those came on a civilian model. I have not seen this in maroon for the military.

The mils were hit and miss for the stencil. Most had it but it does wipe right off. The C version has a totally different collar and actually says 3470C on the collar. Check the pic of one on terrys. I tried to upload it here but im not too savvy yet with this setup. Its me...campmaster from ccf.

I notice no chain or wrench on Terry's site for the one "C" shown. I've noticed most entries here only show one photo, hard to see any unique features.

I've not seen one in maroon, however, no US stamped on bottom, but a sorta uinform area where some stenciling could have been, can't make anything out. Crazy.
