Received the lantern today. It is very dented, does not appear to have any needle, lid for fuel is quite Strange and not original I think and hood has been painted black at some point. So this will be quite interesting to restore :-) Any tips or comments based on the pictures?

Basic advice i know, but the blue enamel top section of the hood is irreplaceable and needs looking after in my opinion. Take it slow and dont over-clean anything. There's a nice lantern under all that crud waiting to be revealed.
Yes agree - no reason to be too aggressive in the cleaning of this one. The blue enamel has some dark areas with soot burned in. Any tips on how to clean the enamel in an effective yet gentle way?
I have in the past used fine automotive paint rubbing compound. However I also found using a plastic "brillopad" useful.
