① Even if the valve is turned off due to its structure

Is it unavoidable to eject a small amount of fuel from the jet?

Is fire extinguishing done by decompressing the tank?

    (2) The inside of the jet that was originally installed is tapered,

Guided by the taper, the needle

It will be inserted into the hole of the jet without bending

The newly acquired jet has a flat inside, cannot absorb the play of the conducting rod, and the needle is not inserted into the hole of the jet and bends.

    What i am thinking now

    1. Wrap something like a generator coil around the connecting rod to limit the rattling of the connecting rod.

    2. Limit the descent range of the connecting rod so that the needle does not come out completely from the hole of the jet.

    Primus1020 Master's advice

    please

Hi Benio and welcome to the forum.

The 1020 is extinguished by releasing pressure. The needle is only for clearing the jet, not for making a tight seal.

The original jets from Primus had a flat section at the top with only a 1.5mm wide conical section to guide the needle. The design of the cleaning rod was such that it should enter the bottom of the jet before the needle reaches the jet hole. The fit of the cleaning rod in the base of the jet is enough that there is minimal play.

    Hi Nils

Thank you very much for your prompt advice.

    (1) Extinguish the fire with decompression. When transporting, I would like to remove all fuel and open the decompression cap.

    (2) Isn't it designed so that the needle does not completely come out of the hole of the jet even if the conducting lod is lowered to the minimum?

I wish I could adjust the length like the conducting lod of Petromax HK500 ...

I would like to see if the gear part of the conducting rod can limit the amount of rod descent.

When not in use, always have the pressure release screw open.

The needle is supposed to be completely free of the jet when working. I have not had any issues with cleaning needles on Primus lamps of this design (not only the 1020).

    Hi Nils
For a while, I will continue to use the one with a tapered inside of the jet.
    thank you!
