While walking round the boot sale last weekend I spotted a yellow Coleman clam shell case on one of the stalls so I went and checked it over and to my surprise inside was a Coleman 201, I asked the price and quickly paid up a very small sum of money and went off clutching my prize, When I got home I gave it a good check over and found it was badly sooted up and had the smallest mantle in the world fitted, no wonder it was sooted up as a mantle that small was never going to keep the heat in the generator to vapourise the fuel properly. There was also some paint missing in two places on the fount. I've now got a matching pair.
Just add to my last post the mantles I used on these two are butterfly no 41 which says 500 to 600 but going on past experience I know they shrink up very small for a big 500cp lantern, the look huge when first fitted to the 201 but after burning in end up just the right size They are nice and bright but dont blind you like the big 500cp lanterns Regards to all Ian
Congratulations! There are almost never any lanterns for sale at flea markets or boot sales around my location. A really nice find!! Regards Matti
